We have an important announcement for our pediatric patients: Dr. Reya is leaving SDC, and moving to the Midwest to be closer to family. Her last day with SDC will be June 21. She is able to see all existing pediatric patients for routine and emergency care until then.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR PATIENTS:
1. For uninsured or those with private pay insurances: your child’s care will continue as normal. Our general dentists will step in for treatment and exams until a replacement pediatric dentist joins our team.
2. For Apple Health/Provider One insurance: Credentialing a new provider with this plan currently takes up to 8 months. This means you will need to find a new office to take over your child’s care until a replacement pediatric dentist is hired and credentialed with Apple Health. To assist you in this temporary transition, we’ve provided an attached list of possible offices that accept state insurance. This list is not a guarantee that they are accepting new patients. We urge you to begin this process ASAP to ensure continuity of care.
Dr. Reya will be greatly missed, but we’re excited and proud of her in this new chapter! Our pediatric department is such a big part of what we offer here, and we’re committed to finding an incredible successor to fill this role!
Meet Reya Das, DMD, Pediatric Dentist.
Dr. Reya was born in Ohio and later spent time growing up in Michigan and Arizona. She went back to Ohio to attend dental school at Case Western Reserve University and then moved to California to earn her pediatric dental certificate and Masters in Oral and Craniofacial Science at UCSF. Having worked in Massachusetts, California, Iowa, and Arizona, she has been coast to coast and in between.
Dr. Reya believes that positive dental experiences as a child help create good oral hygiene practices at home that are then carried on to adulthood. As such, she strives to create a positive experience every time a child visits the office. Her practice philosophy revolves around providing quality treatment in a compassionate and welcoming environment for each child. “I chose to become a dentist because I love to smile and the idea of helping a person recover or maintain their smile really appeals to me. I am specifically interested in pediatric dentistry because I wanted to help children become less scared of coming to the dentist in hopes that it would make their experiences better and be carried on into adulthood with better oral hygiene practices. Social media is constantly painting the dentist as a scary place, and I wanted to help kids realize that isn’t the case but that we are here to help keep their mouths happy and healthy.”
In her free time, Dr. Reya enjoys jigsaw puzzles, sports, reading, playing the piano, cross-stitch, cooking, and dancing. She also loves playing, relaxing, and hiking with her energetic little dog!
